The No. 26 Mine Disaster

This is an interesting post:

Written by the incomparable Alistair MacGillivray (who rocks my socks), this song was written after an accident at the No. 26 Colliery in Glace Bay, NS in 1979. It’s a shame this song is not more well-known; I got it out of a songbook, but have never, ever heard it sung by anyone else. Apparently the Men of the Deeps do a choral version of it.
